I wanted to comment on your moon punch needle project. I think it's good - as good as the pattern you followed. What she might not have mentioned in her pattern is how to "tidy" up your finished project. Once you've completed it, take the empty punch needle and use the tip to straighten some of your loops (from the loop side) so that they appear with more precise curves (if that's what you're going for) and clip loops that may be too long, and pull up loops that may be too short (be careful doing this maneuver because it can come back and bite you.) But remember also that you can re-do the loop if it or several come out. And I JUST learned that wetting your piece when completed, and using a tiny amount of soap on the back and rubbing gently, will "full" the fibers - even cotton - so that they cling to not just one another but also to the vehicle cloth. Did you use weavers cloth? Apparently there's many different fabrics to use, but I have found the weavers cloth to be best - it's the tightest.
As you can see I'm fairly wild over this new needlework, and I have tried them all. I am designing patterns and hope to do something with this, but alas, this wouldn't be my first attempt at making a living with my art. It's too competitive on the Net, but only time will tell. I'm retired and need something to keep me from snacking at the ice-box.
This is a skill with lots of latitude, so perhaps you'll think of doing another project. If you like, let's keep in touch on this subject, and I'll give you as many tips as I find on making this more fun and enjoyable. Good luck. And may I ask why you "closed" your comments on this? And how do you do that? I have deleted comments, in a space-saving effort, on older blogs, but always welcome any news, especially on punch needle. Thanks for sharing this project.
Happy Holidays. Patsye

I love that cake, YUM! It reminds me of one I made for a friends birthday. Instead of icing the outside you cut the two cake layers in half and then put a layer of icing/whipped cream type, strawberries and then another layer of icing, in between each cake layer, then if thats not enough ya take a serated knife and cut just the thin outsides all around the cake to show off the layers of fruit, icing, and cake. It kind of has and octagon or what-ever you call that shape once your done since its no longer round from trimming the sides down. Our nail tech has been doing the crackle look on peoples nails. I'm just waiting for her to try out the tie-dyed look on someone.

I can empathize with your computer buying experience at Best Buy but have to tell you that Office Max is worse. I finally just told the salesperson that if he wanted a sale he would just be very quiet and let me make the purchase with no sales pitch of any kind. That was after having a female salesperson badgering me wanting to know 'just what do you want to DO on your laptop?' and I informed her that her services were no longer needed and unless she got another salesperson to help me I was walking out AFTER speaking to management. At the register I was asked for the umpteenth time if I was certain I didn't want 'someone with experience' to set it up for me! I swear that there is no middle ground, either you are unable to find help or they are underfoot and obnoxious.

I love the purple yarn you spun and dyed. Ha, I'm with you on the tofu. I eat it every now and then and but think, Geesh - this stuff is sorta grosse. I think so far the best way I've liked it is sliced thinly and pan friyed with a lot of garlic sauce and brocolli : ) That's how I order it at the Chinese restaurant
