Checking In

Progress Shot

Here’s a quick check in with my Ravelymics sweater.  I had set a goal with myself to have the cable section done before I went to bed last night and I made it with time to spare.  Today I’ve knit the waistband and just started the bodice.  My new goal is to knit the bodice this weekend, might be a little ambitious but I think I can do it, and then I’d like to have it washed and blocking Monday when I can start the sleeves.

I’ve been only knitting on this during the day and at night after everyone goes to bed, since it’s supposed to be a surprise, so in the evenings I’ve been plying the singles I finished last week.  Last night I plyed the last little bit and washed the yarn and hung it outside to dry in the sun today.  I’ll try to take some pictures tomorrow, it will depend on the light, I think it’s supposed to be cloudy again tomorrow.  And yesterday I got the yarn for my new KnitPicks test knit so I cast on last night and knit a bit on it.  That project isn’t due back until the beginning of April and it is a quick project so I’m not too worried about it yet.

But for now I need to go make some coffee and have a little after

Long Overdue

Mystery Beret

I finally thought to block my Woolly Wormhead Mystery Beret yesterday.  The color is a bit off here, you can see it better in the other pictures on my Ravelry project page.  I finished this a month ago but I kept forgetting about it since I haven’t needed a hat, since it’s cold now I thought I might want something to keep my head warm, as if I don’t have any other hats.  I didn’t like how the hat looked until I blocked it, it had that bunchy, bumpy unblocked lace look and combined with the thick and thin yarn, it just wasn’t very pretty.  I wet it down in the sink and put it over a plate and let it sit overnight and that smoothed out all the bumps and evened out the stitches (as much as possible) and it’s so much better.  I probably could have got away with making the smaller size, the brim is a bit loose, but I can live with it.

Superwash

I dyed some roving back in either October or November, can’t remember, and never took any pictures of it, here’s one braid, the picture of my other roving didn’t come out right.  This is my last bit of superwash wool, I kept a tiny bit white but I can’t find it right now.  This I dyed in a maroon, brown, green and gold.  I just soaked the roving right in the pot and dumped the colors on it, heated it for about an hour, let it cool and rinsed it.  The color is so rich and I really like the little pops of green and gold against the darker burgundy.  I’m going to put this in my shop sometime this week, when I get pictures of the other roving bundle.  This is about five ounces, the other bunch is eight.

Here’s some kitty, just because:
