Another Shawl

Pi Shawl

Yes, the Pi shawl is done. I finished the edging over the weekend and blocked it Monday and it was finally dry sometime Tuesday night. The shawl is nothing spectacular and it’s not supposed to be, though it is warm and cozy and light as air and the perfect size to throw over my shoulders on a chilly fall morning. After blocking it ended up being about 52 inches across the top and 22 inches deep, right where I wanted it to be. This was an easy, easy knit and I would love to do a full circular pi someday. You can see more about it on the Ravelry page, it’s a public link. In short, the yarn is KnitPicks Palette in Sky, I used about 470-ish yards, 2.5 skeins or so. Size 6US/4mm needles and it took twenty days to knit from start to finish.

In progress

Since I can’t go without something on the needles, I cast on not one but two new projects. That big bumpy red blob is a Nimbus in Lion Brand Wool-Ease Chunky that is salvaged from my frogged Juliet. I liked Juliet, but I didn’t like how it looked on me, it was too big, too long and just weird. That sweater was definitely not for my body type, too bad because it’s really cute. I may try knitting a shorter version some other time. I took this picture yesterday and since then I’ve finished the left front and knit a little over half the right front. I’ll probably knit the sleeves this weekend. The yarn is still bumpy from being frogged and I really hope it evens out when I was the finished sweater, which I’ll do in the machine. The little shawl on top is Damson and I’m using KnitPicks Palette for this, too, the color is off here, it’s navy with some purple flecks. I’ve knit a little bit further on this since I took the picture but it looks pretty much the same. This will be my eighth shawl this year.

I’m really loving these small shawls but I’m itching to knit something big and intricate, I just don’t know what. I think this weekend I’ll browse Ravelry and find something and order the yarn since I got paid today.

Sally wants you to know that we are having beautiful fall weather here and we are taking full advantage of it. I’m just happy that the temperature is no longer in the upper 90’s.
