Non-Work Knitting

Rib Warmer

Yay, stuff I can talk about!  I’m still working on my KnitPicks project but I ran out of yarn at the end of last week so while I waited for them to send me some more, I went back to knitting on my rib warmer. And I finished it, the knitting at least. I ended up running out of yarn about ten rows from the end of the second half but I fixed it. I ended up making the backs five or six rows shorter than the fronts but I don’t think it will be noticeable. Now I just need to do all the sewing.

Half Pi

That finished, I went searching for another shawl. I have tons of KnitPicks Palette leftover from Rosemarkie, so I chose this light blue (it’s Sky Blue, I think) and went searching for patterns. I gave up pretty fast, there is just too much to choose from, so I decided on a half-pi mini-shawl. I have 800 or so yards of this yarn and that should be plenty to knit a decent sized shawl. I’m doing eyelets every six rows and I’ll decide on a edging later. I kind of glanced at the instructions in Knitter’s Almanac but I’m really just playing this by ear. I started out by casting on three stitches and knitting six rows in garter, then I picked up three stitches from the side and three from the cast on edge, so I had nine stitches in all. Then I did one row that was K3, pm, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, pm, k3. Next row was k3, p to next marker, k3. Then I started following the directions from the book. I’m using US4/3.5mm needles but I think I should have gone up a size or two, before I start knitting on this again I think I’ll pin it out and see how the fabric looks, if it’s too dense I’ll go up a size.

Rainy Day

It is raining like crazy lately. We barely got any rain the entire month of August, I think an inch, and we’ve had nine or ten inches in the last week. It had been so dry that our leaves were starting to change colors and fall off the trees and that’s about a month earlier than normal. They’re green again now and it is nice and cool but grossly humid, 100% the last I checked.

Now I have to get back to work I need to have my project done by Monday or Tuesday at the latest and there’s a ton of knitting left and even more finishing to do. *Sigh*
