This week has, once again, been all about the work knitting. I have to finish it next week, so you won’t have to hear about it for much longer and then it will be back to regular posting.
I haven’t made any jewelry for a long time and I’ve found myself wishing I had some necklaces lately, so last weekend I drove over to the crap store and bought some beads and wire and made this little necklace. The larger red beads are dyed Jasper, loved the little veins of quartz running through them and thought the green beads made that pop nicely. At first I had picked up some lapis and that looked good with the Jasper, but it was too dark and too heavy, the green was much better. I used antiqued brass wire and toggle. My wirework isn’t all that great, I’m out of practice, but you really can’t tell when the necklace is on, you have to be pretty close to see it.
Here’s a close up. I love that Jasper and the brass together. The necklace is short, about 17”, it just sits at the base of my neck and it is heavy. Like really heavy. I think I’ll take some of the jade that I have left and make some matching earrings.
I have some other stones and wire that I want to use for another necklace and maybe a bracelet. I’ll look at it more later.
Have a great weekend!
