I just haven’t had anything to blog about the past couple weeks.  I’ve had my work project going and now I’m way, way ahead on it and so I’m starting back up on some of my personal projects. Last night I sat down with a couple episodes of the X-Files and finished the punch needle moon.  It is far from perfect but I’m happy with it.  I don’t think it’s too bad for a first try.  My plan is to buy a wooden embroidery hoop and mount this to the hoop and hang it on my wall. Then I’m going to start another one in blue for Daisie and mount the one for her the same way.  I’m going to trim all those long dangly loops on this one so that it won’t look so ragged.  This is just DMC embroidery floss on punch needle cloth and it’s about five inches in diameter.  I got the pattern from Planet June.   My moon doesn’t look nearly as good as hers does but I like it so I don’t really care.

I got bored the other night and the weaving bug was biting, mainly because I found a 4 harness floor loom for $150 and I couldn’t buy it because I have nowhere to keep it and I was a little pissed about it.  We have room in the house for a loom but I’m not allowed to keep anything outside of my bedroom and there’s not room in here for a floor loom, it’s one of the joys of living with my parents.  Also the loom is four hours away and I don’t have a car.  Whatever, I started this strap months and months ago and didn’t like it, I started out weaving it too tight and then got too loose and couldn’t keep the weft tensioned evenly through the whole thing.  I decided to bite the bullet and finish it the other day.  It’s done and it looks a lot worse in person that it does in the picture.  It’s various worsted weight cotton yarns for the warp and crochet cotton for the weft, about 2” wide and five feet or so long.  I used a draft from Woven Treasures to weave it.  This was my first time doing a warp-faced pick up pattern and I liked doing it, I think I’ll try it again sometime.
