It’s been a long time coming but I finally got around to taking some pictures of the Alpaka Tunic. I should have bit the bullet and did all the finishing on this earlier but I’m very, very, very happy that I waited since waiting meant that I shortened it by one lace repeat. I could have shortened it by one more but I’m happy with the length now and the yoke looks about five million times better than it did before.
See what I mean, how it would be okay a little shorter? I wanted to keep it as a tunic but not have it hanging to my knees. I’m so short that if I would have knit it the length on the pattern I could wear it as a dress, I actually made it about six inches shorter than the pattern. And it looks a lot better on me in person, it doesn’t make me look so wide through the middle, though I am really pear shaped.
I will probably wear the tunic like this most of the time, with jeans and a shirt under it, but I think it would also be really pretty, in warmer weather (it was 27°F outside when I took this picture), with a dark skirt and a little camisole underneath. The fabric is baby soft and fuzzy (the yarn is Berroco Ultra Alpaca, which I love) and it has a slinky drape. You can find more information about it on my Ravelry page.
This is all the progress I’ve made on my mom’s Calluna Cardigan. I would love to have more done, but Friday night I pulled a muscle by my shoulder on my back and couldn’t knit much over the weekend. It started feeling better by Sunday but I’ve been taking it kind of easy, I don’t want to hurt it again and I have a KnitPicks project on the way to me, so I have to be able to work on it, too. I’m thrilled with this so far. I love the yarn, it’s KnitPicks City Tweed HW, it is so soft and the stitch definition is amazing, especially considering it’s a two-ply. I really want to make something for myself with it, very nice. My mom is very picky about yarn, she thinks everything is itchy, and I don’t think she’ll have any complaints about this.
I’ve also been spinning. I finished all the singles from my Corgi Hill Farm batts and I’m about a quarter of the way through plying them. The yarn is beautiful and I can’t wait to show it off.
