I hope you all have a great New Year’s Eve! I’m going to a real-life party with real people and everything, that’s a rare occurrence around here. I’m going through all the normal pre-party jitters, what should I wear (it’s going to be 13°F tonight), how should I do my hair (I think I’ll just straighten it), do I really need makeup or can I go without? I do have one thing done, though, my nails! I’m on a bit of a nail kick lately, been changing them about once a week and I ordered some Konad plates last night, I can’t wait to try them out (I got mine from OC Nail Art use coupon code Casuallavish or sasse or scrangie or polishpixie for 20% off, I’m not affiliated with any of these sites, I just found the codes online). I actually need to do a whole post on my recent shopping but I’m waiting for my stuff to get here.
Anyway, here are my nails now. When it comes to nail polish, I’m pretty cheap. I do plan on heading to Sally Beauty Supply for some China Glaze, they have a few colors I’m willing to pay the higher price for, but I’ve found that most polish is the same. You may need more coats of the cheaper stuff and the brushes probably aren’t as nice, but it all looks the same in the end. That said, I’m using Wet n Wild polish for both the base and the glitter. The base is their new Craze polish in Nocturnal which I thought was black but it’s really a very dark blue, I used two coats (this picture is crap, I had to use the flash since it’s dark outside, already). This is a pretty small bottle and the brush is tiny, it was hard to apply the polish evenly and I ended up with two coats on my nails. The glitter is five coats (I wanted tons of glitter) of Wild Shine in Kaleidoscope. It is a nice, chunky holographic glitter in a jelly base. The gel seems to be taking a long time to dry completely, it is annoying but something I can deal with.
This really shows the colors in the glitter and just how much it sparkles, but I do have a ton of it on, it’s much more subtle with just one or two coats.
Have a fun and happy and safe New Year! See you next week.
