Blocking Day

Blocking

Check it out, actual bloggable knitting!  My last work project is FedExing it’s way across the country so I’ve been doing some fun knitting, rather than work knitting.  The last time I posted a picture of my Hollywood Herringbone Sweater all I had knit were the back and a few inches above the ribbing on the front.  Since Friday I’ve finished the front and both sleeves and now everything is spread out on my floor blocking.

I love how the front looks.  The mosaic knit chevrons were fun to knit and I love the texture the slipped stitches give the finished fabric.  I decided not to do the waist shaping on the sweater, I’m very pear shaped (my bust is only about two inches bigger than my waist, which is around ten inches smaller than my hips) and waist shaping in a sweater like this doesn’t really do anything except make the sweater hug my love handles, not the most flattering look.

Over the weekend I also knit and felted the swatch for my coat and it looks terrific.  I forgot to take a picture of it and the camera batteries died, so I’ll do it tomorrow, but the color is the perfect apple green and the fabric is nice and thick and is going to be so warm.  Plus, it blocked to the perfect measurements, I was a little worried about that since I’m substituting yarn.  Tonight I’m going to start winding the yarn and I may go ahead and start knitting, maybe I’ll work a bit on the scarf I’m weaving.  Who knows!
