Yarn!

Hand Spun Yarn

I seriously thought about calling this entry “OMG SOFT!!! drooldrooldrool” but thought that would be a bit much even if it is what I think when I touch this yarn.  I guess I could call it “OMG SLEET!!! fuckfuckfuck” since we’re supposed to get an inch or two of ice, snow and sleet by Wednesday.  Back to the snuggly yarny goodness, this is 400-ish yards of Rambouillet/Llama, three ply, about 11WPI and fluffy as a cloud and soft as a baby’s bottom.  The plan was to knit Forbes Forest with this yarn and I cast on, knit a repeat of the pattern and found my scarf was a whopping 24 inches wide.  Looks like my stitch gauge is a little off.  So my next plan was to knit just the cable portion of Fair Isle Jazz (both are from Scarf Style) and see how that turns out.  I’ve already cast on and knit almost one repeat and it’s still a little wide but it looks perfect.  The stitch definition is really good (thanks to the three ply yarn) and the fabric is nice and drapey and soft and has a slight halo.  I think this will make a good scarf.  Too bad I have to give it away.

I’ll try to get a picture of my progress tomorrow but I’m not making any promises.  The weather is getting really bad and the local news says that power outages will be wide spread tonight and tomorrow so blogging will all depend on the state of my electricity and the weather.  *Sigh*

  1. That really must be super soft. I love rambouillet and I can only imagine that adding the Llama makes it that much more heavenly.

Good luck with your weather weirdness. I hope you don’t lose power. That’s what always gets old really fast. No power=suckage.
