Another Baby Blanket

Blanket

The never-ending baby blanket is finally done!  Friday night I sat down with a book (Twilight by Stephanie Meyer, I finally caved and read it) and just knit until the blanket was done.  I only had the chance to wash it today and it softened up nicely, it will be a good, cuddly blanket.  Now I just have to give it to my grandparents so they can give it away.  Here’s a detail shot, as if you really need one with the garter stitch but I’m really into garter right now.  It’s such a basic simple thing but so tactile, it feels so good in your hands and it’s so easy to do while I’m reading.

Details:

  • Pattern:  Baby Love Diagonal Baby Blanket from Lionbrand.com
  • Yarn: Dreamy Baby Chenille by Baby Bee, I think this is Hobby Lobby’s store brand.  It’s a very soft acrylic chenille that does not worm but is also not elastic and kind of hard to knit.  My hands cramped up very fast with it.
  • Needles:  US 6/ 4mm
  • Size: about 36 inches square
  • See it on Ravelry here.

My Thanksgiving went pretty smooth, we had my sister and her boyfriend and my granparents over for lunch Thursday and it was a nice, quiet afternoon.  Friday we did a lot of sleeping and a little shopping (I got a 500GB external hard drive but no clothes which is what I was looking for) and read a lot and finished the blanket.  I was sick Saturday and Sunday and spent both days in bed reading.  I managed to polish off the entire Twilight series (four books with a couple thousand pages put together) over the weekend, I think that puts me up to 12 books in the last two weeks.  The books weren’t bad, for a teenage vampire romance, there was some parts where I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes and supressing a gag (I’m not a romance novel type person) but I know I would have loved it when I was sixteen, so I can understand all these teen girls are going nuts.  The books won’t be on my list of favorites or anything but I did enjoy them, even if I am outside of the target audience, and they were a quick, engrossing read.

Now I’m knitting another project for KnitPicks, that I can’t talk about, but it’s a small project and is knitting up really fast (I knit most of last night) so I should be done soon and then I can get back to my sweater.
