I am Knitting, Really

Bird

I just don’t have anything interesting to show.  I do have two inches of 2×2 rib and eight inches of stockinette, which means I almost have the back of my sweater done.  It was 100° outside today and I’m knitting a long sleeved sweater.  I think I’ve lost my mind.

The picture at the top of the entry is something I whipped up Friday.  I have nothing hanging on my walls and it’s making me crazy.  I had this 16″x20″ canvas board and a picture of a bird on a holly (I think) branch.  So I used Adobe Illustrator to turn the bird into a vector and resized it, made a stencil out of lightweight cardboard and painted it on the canvas.  The edges came out terrible, so I had to repaint all of them, by hand, with a tiny paintbrush.  It sucked to paint but I like it, now I just need to figure out how to hang it.  Any suggestions?  I’m thinking about leaving it leaning against the table that it’s on now, I kind of like it there.

Weekend Update

Since I didn’t post yesterday, here’s a weekend update.

First things first, my yarn sold!  Thanks, James!  Now I can buy bags of roving and some dyes.  Very exciting.

Thursday I got my copy of the Fall Interweave Knits.  I’m so in love with this issue.  There’s tons of stuff I want to make and I’ve already started on the Supernova Pullover but I’m having trouble getting gauge on the little circles at the top so I’m working on the back.  Pictures Monday.  I was thrilled to see that Annie Modesitt is the featured designer, I was wondering when they were going to write her up.  She deserves it.  And she reads my blog. Hi, Annie!

I can’t believe I’m knitting a sweater, it’s still 95° here, so hot.

There’s a rerun of Project Runway on.  I’m totally bummed about the last two designers kicked off.  And I hate Keith, his dresses are beautiful but he’s an ass, I hope he’s gone next.

Oh, well.  I’m off for pizza.  Have a great rest of the weekend, everyone!

Signs of Knitting

Fulled Flowers

Fulled Flowers

Today I made flowers.  Three roses and six leaves, to be exact.  I used scraps of wool, Lamb’s Pride Worsted and Bulky and a little Cascade 220.  I used size 10.5US needles on the worsted and for the bulky, a 13.  They were really easy to make and so cute.  I just cast on 10, 20, or 30 sts (for three different sizes) Knit one row, K through the front and back loops on the next row, K one row, K through the front and back loops again and bound off.  I think I’ll make some pins and I dreamed of a felt necklace with felted roses, so I’m trying to work that out.

And, as a reminder, I still have yarn for sale.

Buy My Yarn

Green Handspun Singles

Since yesterday was my blogiversary, I’ve lowered the price of my yarns to $12 each, until around midnight Eastern Friday.  I meant to do it yesterday but I forgot, so there you go.  If you want to buy them both, email me and I’ll sell them both to you for $20.

I hate to keep harping on it, but I really, really, want to sell these yarns so I can buy tons more roving.  In fact, I got offered a really good deal on two pounds of roving the other day and I want it so bad!  Besides, the sooner someone buys my yarn, the sooner I quit asking.  If I get to buy the two pounds I’m going to open a shop on Etsy instead of trying to sell through the blog.  So, buy my yarn!
