I was finally able to take a photo of my Pomotamus socks today. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. I had to go down a needle size on the foot because my stockinette gauge was just a bit too loose so when I’m wearing them they look a little strange, which I don’t mind. If I was going to make another pair, I would definitely use a different yarn. The Opal Croc is too thin, these really need something beefier. I think the pattern is absolutely genius, though, and if I have a chance I will not hesitate to make another pair.
The Details:
Pattern: Pomotamus from the Winter ‘05 Knitty.
Yarn: Opal Croc in green, blue, yellow and pink
Needles: US2(2.75mm) on the leg and US1 (2.25mm) on the foot. The needle size made a huge difference in the pattern, you just can’t really tell in the picture.
The bottom picture is my current WIPs, my trellis scarf and Hedera, from the new Knitty. I only have two and half repeats to go on the scarf but I may decide to do a couple extra, depending on how long it is and how much yarn I have left. I’m making Hedera out of some mystery stash sock yarn. I had previous made a pair of Making Waves socks with this yarn but I didn’t really like them. I really like these socks so far but I am worried they might be too small, we’ll just have to see.
I ordered some books from Amazon last night, I think I’ll wait to talk about them when they get here. I love their free super saver shipping!
