Socks Again

Waving Lace Socks

The first of the Making Waves socks is done and I started the second last night.  This sock is by far the best I’ve made yet.  There are a couple mistakes but the fit is perfect.  I really can’t wait until I get the second done so I can wear them.  I think they will make a great pair of summer socks.  I might just have to make another pair in a different color.

On an unrelated note, I got a new bed and I get to paint my room next week!  Just need to decide on a color.

Socks, Socks, Socks

When I can’t think of anything else to knit, I always fall back on socks.  They’re portable, they’re cheap (fairly cheap, anyway), and they’re fast (usually).  The one Stashbuster Spiral sock I finished Friday night has been banished to knitting hell (that being located in the bottom of my knitting basket) once I realized it was too long in the foot and too tight in the leg.  I like the pattern so I’ll probably make another pair sometime in the future.  The Retro Rib socks got ripped out sometime last week and that yarn is now being made into the very pretty Waving Lace (I think that’s what they’re called, anyway) socks from the Spring ‘04 IK.  If I was a better photographer I would have a picture of it for you, but I’m not, so I don’t.

I appear to be on another of my sock kicks, which happens occasionally.  A new pattern for the Six Sox KAL will be coming out soon so I’ll have another pair to start (if I like them, they sound interesting).

And if I was a better blogger I would have remembered to take a picture of my Faux-Mohair Cowl sweater but I’m not, so I didn’t, again.  I completely forgot about the sweater until I sat down to type this entry and I just don’t feel like getting dressed, setting up the camera, and taking the picture.  Too much hassle.  I’ll do it later this week, sometime.

Some Totally Random Stuff and a Scarf Pattern

I’m posting early today.  I don’t have much knitting to talk about, but it’s below the fold, so click the link below to get to it.

I’m going to do the Friday Random Ten today.  Wanna play along?  Open your music player, or iPod if you have one, hit random or shuffle, and write the first ten songs.  Mine are (song title, then band or singer):

1.  Here in my Room- Incubus

2.  Not Coming Home- Maroon 5

3.  I Like Hubcabs- Brak, from Space Ghost

4.  KRS-One- Sublime

5.  Don’t Fix It- Squirrel Nut Zippers

6.  I Will- Radiohead

7.  One is the Lonliest- Aimee Mann

8.  Dub the Mic- Beastie Boys

9.  Black Slacks- Brian Stezer and the Tomcats

10.  In the Old Temple- Yo Yo Ma from the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon soundtrack.

Quite a mix there.

I’ve been listening to the leaked Fiona Apple album, Extraordinary Machine, that Sony won’t release.  You can find more info about it here.  It’s really good.

Ok, now I’ll post the pattern and a picture of my scarf below!

A Stolen Moment

I have a couple minutes and I’m giving it to the blog.  I haven’t been as busy today as I thought I would be, I’ve just been spending time away from the computer again.  Most time is spent with my camera but I’ve been sneaking in some knitting here and there.

These little bits of knitting time have added up to a finished cowl sweater.  It’s done, a day later than I thought it would be, and I love it.  I’ll try to get a picture this weekend.

On the needles now:  a drop stitch scarf out of the leftovers from the sweater for my mom.  She loves this yarn.

Getting There

I’m getting there on the cowl.  I don’t think I’ll finish it today, probably tomorrow.

Just a quicky today, I’m working on some other things that I really want to get done.  I doubt I’ll have much time to blog the rest of the week, my mom took the next two days off and I’m sure she’ll find something else for me to do.
