Getting There

Another post with no pictures, but there will be tomorrow, promise.

I didn’t finish the cardigan last night, there just wasn’t time.  But I’ve just about finished it today, good enough for me.  I realized that I’ve been knitting for seven or eight years and I’ve never made anything that buttons up, never.  So I made my first button band today.  With some help from the stitch guide from the subscribers section of the Interweave site, it was pretty easy and my button holes and buttons line up almost perfect and it only took two tries.  Now all I have to do is bind off the button band and sew up the sleeves and I’m done!

Poor Mariah has fallen by the wayside since I’ve been working on the cardi but I should get back to it later.  I slammed my hand in a drawer while doing dishes yesterday (I’m such a klutz) so I have a knot on it and knitting is just slightly painful so I’ve been trying to take it easy.  Mariah makes it hurt really bad, the cardigan is tolerable.

I bought some yarn Monday night to crochet a hat and crocheting (is that a word?) is nearly impossible.  The hand pain sucks but it should be gone in a couple days.

I never mentioned that I’ve started a blog to keep track of the books I read this year, right here.  And the design bug has bitten again, so I’m fleshing out a redesign for this site and making lots of icons.  This takes time from knitting but that is time for the hand to heal, which means I can knit more later, so it all works out in the end.

Almost FO Day

Don’t you love that feeling when you realize that all you have left on a project is the finishing?  I hit that point today with Daisie’s sweater.  The knitting is done, ends are woven in, all that is left is to sew in the sleeves and do the collar and button band.  I found some adorable pink daisy buttons last night that match the pink in the sweater perfectly.  I think she’ll be here in about an hour and half and I really hope I can have it done by then.  Off to work, better post, tomorrow!

Getting Closer

Stripey Cardi body

I’m very close to finishing the cardigan now.  I just have to knit the top part of the back and do the finishing.  I’m happy with it so far, there are a few loose stitches and the neckline isn’t perfect but I think it’s going to be fine once I do the collar.

I’ve been working on the Retro Rib socks again and I think I’ll do an afterthought heel, which puts me at the instep now.  I like the sock and I hope I don’t put off doing the second one for too long.

I knit a little on Mariah last night, I have half an inch to go on the front and then I get to knit the other one.  I’ll be done with it fairly soon.  I still love the sweater and can’t wait to wear it.

More pictures are coming.  We’re having nice, sunny weather which makes for good picture taking.

So Sleepy

I’ve been terribly tired today, I haven’t done much of anything except sleep.  I did put up a picture of some of the Northern Lights roving I finished spinning last week here.  I need to order some more of this, it is so pretty.

I’ve started the body of Daisie’s cardigan and worked out my stripe sequence.  I think its going to be okay but I need to see how much she likes it.  I’m using the Fibonacci Series to do my stripes, I have to sneak something geeky into it.  I think she’ll like it since orange and pink are two of her favorite colors but I wish I had some white to tone it down a bit.
